Geauga Youth Center (GYC)

Supporting Youth and Building Futures

The Geauga Youth Center (GYC) is a Qualified Residential Treatment Program serving youth ages 13–17. We provide a safe, supportive environment where adolescents can grow, learn, and prepare for a successful future. Our dedicated team offers 24/7 supervision, therapeutic support, and life skills training to help youth return home or transition to a less restrictive setting.

Our Therapeutic Program delivers residential services for youth facing challenges such as substance use, mental health concerns, and intense family conflict. GYC offers a comprehensive range of services for at-risk adolescents, including short- and long-term therapeutic placements, respite care, and aftercare support.

Comprehensive Care & Support

We provide around-the-clock supervision and support, ensuring a safe and structured environment for every youth in our care. Our team offers therapeutic milieu counseling to promote emotional and behavioral growth, along with social and recreational opportunities that encourage positive engagement.

Additionally, we connect youth to community resources that help them build strong support networks beyond our program.

Life Skills & Education

Youth at GYC receive hands-on training in daily living activities, along with coaching on employment skills, budgeting, and other essential life skills. Educational services are provided onsite through a partnership with the local educational service center, ensuring that academic progress continues while youth develop the tools they need for long-term success.

Our Goal

To provide youth with the education, skills, and tools that enhance mental health and behavioral functioning—so they can successfully return home or move to a less restrictive setting.

Eligibility

Youth are deemed eligible for the Geauga Youth Center based on a mental health assessment completed by an appropriately licensed service provider and has been approved through the Geauga County Family and Children First Council Screening Committee.
