Kristina Port, MPA
Kristina Port, MPA – President 2021, 2022, 2023
Kristina finished the Leadership Geauga County program in 2003, and was seeking a board position that matched her skill sets within healthcare, and leadership experience in her professional life. Since 2003, she has served on the Board of Directors as an officer of the executive committee. She graduated from Cleveland State University with a Masters in Public Administration with a focus in Healthcare Administration. She has a passion to give back to the community; she serves as an elected township trustee and is a neurodiagnostic technologist who’s cared for many patients over the years.
Her personal reason for wanting to serve Ravenwood; the recent suicide of a family member. Knowing this individual’s intent, motivation, state for self-harm, did not stop this suicide. Of course one always replays in their mind: “Did I try to convince them life is worth living? Did I reach out to their family and other mental health agencies to try and enlist aid? Is there some way that I could have prevented this?” These are all questions that many clients ask in their journey to both physical health and mental health. Kristina is not alone in noting Ravenwood’s myriad of services provided by counselors in guiding answers to questions posed. The agency demonstrated the depth and scope of an individual needing mental health services and Kristina has the energy to advocate on its behalf. Kristina knows that the questions raised are common, and that Ravenwood Health has teams and programs in place to address the best environment for providing hope and healing to those in need.
Community involvement of note include serving on the Council of Smaller Enterprises (COSE) Government Advocacy Committee 2005-2016, JoAnn Davidson Ohio Leadership Institute graduate (2008), and serving as an elected official in Russell Township (2008-2012, 2020-2024). Kristina is a first-time grandmother and cherishes what the future holds for her grandson.

Matthew Jacob Shupe, JD
Matthew Jacob Shupe, JD
Matthew J. Shupe is a resident of Geauga County who joined Ravenwood Health’s Board of Directors to support his neighbors. He was raised in an environment with people struggling to manage their own addiction and mental health problems. Matthew’s goal is to “pay it forward” after he personally benefited from community mental health services such as those offered by Ravenwood Health. He has served as Ravenwood Health’s Treasurer being responsible for accounting for Ravenwood Health’s funds, and for observing proper meeting formalities and records of all Ravenwood Health Board of Director meetings.
Matthew is a practicing attorney who has the privilege of representing Ohioans living with physical and mental impairments before various federal agencies, including the Social Security Administration and the Department of Veterans Affairs. This grants him insight into the signs, symptoms, and course of treatment of people living with addiction and other mental health impairments. Because applications for disability take months if not years to process, he also has ample experience connecting clients to vital community resources such as those provided by Ravenwood Health.

He also interviews law students preparing to sit for the Ohio bar exam as a member of the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association’s Bar Admissions Committee. Like so many, her family has been impacted by mental health and addiction in profound ways.
Having services available for those in crisis, and continued support for patients and their families’, is critical. Fast forward a few years and she is on her second term, and continue to strive to provide meaningful contribution to ultimately aid Ravenwood Health in reaching those in need as well as sharing the information and support that is out there and available in the community.
Professionally Heather’s background is focused in helping small businesses and nonprofit organizations with their websites and online marketing initiatives. She works with a variety of small businesses in Northeast Ohio, and also volunteers services for a handful of local nonprofit organizations. Interested in becoming a Ravenwood Health Board Member?
Join a team of mental health and addiction services professionals by volunteering your time as a Member of the Ravenwood Health Board of Directors. We are seeking local professionals and individuals who have talent and time to share.
On any given day, we service many different clients—children, youth, adults, and families—with approximately 4,000 individuals embracing our services on an annual basis. Often in our offices, we also visit a client at their home, within a school, or even community centers. Our clinical and administrative team has grown to over 160 employees with an annual budget of over $9 million.
Board Members meet the last Thursday of the month at 5:30 pm, at a centralized Ravenwood Health facility. Frequently, we meet for an hour and a half, eight times throughout the year. Members are encouraged to contribute individual gifts, discuss corporate grants with their employers, and influence inner circles to share in their generosity as appropriate.
The Board votes on policy issues that cover a broad spectrum of topics and approve the agency budget and financials. Our maximum Board membership is fifteen. We are seeking a broad representation from residents of Geauga County as well as contiguous counties and communities, which Ravenwood also serves.
